Pattaya Orphanage

Pattaya Thailand, a city with a dubious reputation. Here you will find one of the biggest sex tourism industry worldwide. In search for work thousands of people migrate to Pattaya every year. But besides luxurious hotels there is a lot of poverty, disrupted families and many children nobody can or wants to take care of.

Since 1974, these children find a home in the Pattaya Orphanage which among others was founded by the priest Father Ray Brennan, and is centrally located in the city.  The beautiful outdoor area, including a playground and a soccer field, shields the children from the bustle of Pattaya. For over 20 years, the Pattaya Orphanage is supported by HHN. All along it is home to over 150 children, most of them stay at the orphanage since babyhood. Here you can find 3 babyrooms. One third of the children are aged less than 4 years. A nurse is available around the clock and many well-trained nannies assist the children with love and care throughout their day.

The older children have to get up early as they all want to shower, get dressed and have breakfast before they leave to school. Three times a day a meal is served at the orphanage´s canteen for the children.

All children of one age are supervised in a small group. The Pattaya Orphanage established a preschool where children in the age of four years and up learn English, Thai and math playfully as a preparation for school. In the age of seven the children are sent to public school by bus every day. Until the children finish a vocational training or university and are able to care for themselves they are supported by the Pattaya orphanage.

A school for deaf children is also placed on the orphanage´s compound. It is supported by Human Help Network as well. During the afternoon the children play outside where there is a lot of space to enjoy. After a shower and dinner they go to bed. The funding of the Orphanage runs solely on donations. To provide good care for the children the orphanage is dependent on aid. Please help to secure this important project in the future!

In 1972, Rev. Fr. Raymond Allyn Brennan, a Redemptorist priest, was requested to go to help work at St. Nikolaus Church, Pattaya, temporarily, and one morning when he opened the church door he saw a newborn child left at the stairway front. Not knowing what to do, he took care of the child, asking his friends about “how to give milk and how to change the diaper”. [+]
