Many poor families from the northeast of Thailand come to Pattaya in search of a better life. The sad reality for many is a meager living as street vendors or garbage collectors. In the communities in which they live drug abuse and alcoholism are common. Children growing up under these conditions suffer from a lack of care, poor hygiene and malnutrition resulting in poor general health, stunted growth and tooth decay.
The Fountain of Life Children’s Center aims to provide children from slums or from extremely poor living conditions with basic education and proper day care. Every morning from Monday to Friday the center provides transportation for up to 150 children aged between 3 and 15 to attend the day program. When they arrive a nourishing breakfast awaits them. During the day the children attend classes and have the chance to play in a safe environment suitable for children their age.
The HHN Foundation Thailand supports the Fountain of Life Children’s Center’s mission financially, helping to raise funds and organizing joint activities with other projects.
