Great news of the week

We are very glad we can announce wonderful news: The government finally succeeded in finding one of the children’s parents. Two years ago, the girl was given to the care of the CPDC and since then has been hoping to see her parents again someday.

CPDC is visited by Sub-District members of Nongprue

On Wednesday, 7th of September, the CPDC was visited by a group of 49 ladies and gentlemen from the sub district of Nongprue. Among these were the leaders and further members of the community committee as well as teachers.

Charity Football Tournament 2011 – In Memory of Fr. Ray Brennan

On August, 16th 2011, it was Father Ray’s 8th anniversary of the death. Therefore, the Pattaya Orphanage hosted a two-day Charity Football Tournament last weekend. The children of the orphanage and of the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) have been looking forward to this big event for weeks.

‘Break the Silence’ training at the CPDC

A 5-days workshop about sexual abuse and exploitation of children was held at the Child Protection and Development Center from Thursday,4th till Wednesday, 10th August. This training was arranged by Francesco Caruso, director of the Children at Risk Program of the ADM Capital Foundation.The workshop was held by an advocacy and training officer, a psychologist and a social worker of the Stairway Foundation Inc. and took place at the CPDC’s Education Center.

US Marine Band electrifies Children and Visitors at CPDC

Over 500 children and visitors, free food, drinks and Rock ‘n’ Roll. The 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force Band from Okinawa, Japan gave a free performance at the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) on July 3rd, delighting children, staff and numerous visitors with American Rock and Pop music.

Roofed Sports Court for the CPDC

In these days our Child Protection and Development Center sees the completion of yet another big project: The roof of our new sports court. After several months of construction the roofing is now the largest standing structure at our center. It will allow the children to use the court during midday heat or rainy afternoons.

CPDC is visited by Counselor of the German Embassy Theodor Proffe

Mr. Proffe along with his wife and friend were so kind to pay a visit to the children at our center on May 2nd and to support our work with a donation of toys and necessities for the children. In spite of the rather short visit the counselor and his wife were impressed with what they saw at the CPDC and especially to experience that the children are happy to live at our center.

BCT Youth Charity visits CPDC

On Sunday, 1st May 2011, the CPDC was visited by the “Bridge Club Thailand Youth Charity“. Together with over 100 children from our center and also from slum areas in Pattaya, the club arranged for activities such as football and other games. The children had a great time playing together and enjoying the lunch, that was hosted by the BCT later on.

Medical Support for Children and Families

In times of rising medical costs, free health check-ups, like the ones provided by a medical team from Thanyarak Institute on Saturday 26rd, are of incomparable value to the children under our care. For the second time this year, the CPDC hosted a professional team of doctors and nurses that treated not only the children at our center, but also numerous families from slum areas in and around Pattaya.

UNODC Goodwill Ambassador Mira Sorvino visits the CPDC

Mira Sorvino, actress and goodwill ambassador to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), came to visit our center on Friday, March 25th. Taking a tour around the compound and spending time with the former street children, Mrs. Sorvino was impressed and touched in her heart by the work that is being done to fight child trafficking.
